Alan Nixon is claiming that Ali McCann is for sale at just £1m.

The Sun reporter is known as a transfer expert but that sort of fee for the Celtic linked midfielder would appear to be very generous.

McCann is a current internationalist with two full seasons of top flight experience as well as winners medals from the Betfred Cup and Scottish Cup.

St Johnstone’s double success put him in the spotlight with some comparisons being made between the Northern Ireland internationalist and Scott Brown.

The Sun (10.14) reports:

Stoke boss Michael O’Neill is keen on St Johnstone’s Northern Ireland midfielder Alistair McCann, 21.  The Scottish Cup-double winners want around £1million and the Potters are trying to raise the cash. Celtic, Swansea and Hull are also interested in McCann.

Celtic will have Luca Connell, Ewan Henderson, Scott Robertson and Kerr McInroy returning from loan spells for Ange Postecoglou to assess.

All of those players possess potential but none have the experience of McCann who won’t turn 22 until December.

With Brown now at Aberdeen and doubts over the future of Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Christie signing McCann for £1m would seem to be very efficient move for Celtic to make.
