Celtic’s switch in media arrangements will swing into action today when Ange Postecoglou hosts a conference Live on You Tube.
Three weeks after his appointment the former Australian international boss hasn’t said a word directly to the Scottish media with all of his comments coming from in-house media. Similarly, despite being in place for more than two months Dom McKay hasn’t made any comments to traditional news outlets.
No-one has been given an exclusive with the club making a statement in terms of their new manager and his content.
The Celtic website reports:
Having arrived in Glasgow only yesterday, new Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou takes his first training session with the Bhoys at Lennoxtown today before holding his first press conference with incoming Chief Executive Dom McKay at Celtic Park tomorrow (Friday, June 25).
All supporters will be able to watch the manager’s first media conference LIVE from 1pm tomorrow on Celtic’s official YouTube channel, and links to the live broadcast will be posted on all of the Club’s social media channels tomorrow ahead of the event.
Fans are reminded not to travel to the stadium and to watch safely from home with full coverage available to everyone, worldwide.
The purpose of the various media conferences is to get news through to Celtic fans, now the club has realised that they have the ability to do that directly, without interpreation.
During last season the broadcast media would be able to tweet from a Celtic media conference, anything said could be used in any context before the full conference appeared a few hours later on You Tube.
Neil Lennon’s famous outbursts before facing Livingston in January spread far and wide as the former Celtic boss hit out at a variety of topics with the message very clear. On that occasion the full conference never made it onto You Tube, it looks like a brand new approach will be rolled out today.
