Celtic fans won’t be able to attend any away European matches until September at the earliest.

On July 28 the hoops take on Midtjylland in a Champions League qualifier but the match will be played in front of home fans only, just like the home tie at Celtic Park eight days earlier.

Large crowds have attended matches at the European Championships with a couple of hundred Wales fans enjoying a break in Baku to watch their team play against Switzerland and Turkey.

Two thousand Scotland fans will be at Wembley tomorrow night but when it comes to club matches it will be home fans only through the qualifiers.

There could be a few Celtic fans living in Denmark that are able to attend the match but Ange Postecoglou will have to do without the regular group of around 500 that would travel to that sort of fixture.

The former Yokohama Marinos boss goes straight in at the deep end with the matches against Midtjylland followed by the first SPFL fixture of the season with Celtic travelling to face Hearts at Tynecastle. It seems likely that the opening SPFL matches will also be played in front of home fans only.
