Vakoun Bayo is wanted by Toulouse for another season in the French Second Division.

The striker was signed by Celtic in January 2019 from Slovak side Dunajska Streda but has failed to make any real impression in a handful of appearances.

Celtic were reported to have paid a transfer fee of £2m for the Ivorian but with 12 months left on his contract it looks like that fee can be written off.

Bayo and Albian Ajeti appear to be the only strikers likely to be available to Ange Postecoglou but it seems like the rebuild could go ahead without Bayo who is wanted in France.

Toulouse chairman Damien Comolli spoke to a group of fans with The Sun reporting:

Vakoun Bayo wants to stay with us and he has now received our proposal. Of the two other players we had on loan last season, the option to buy Brecht Dejaegere has been exercised, but on the other hand, Sebastien Dewaest will not return because his salary is too high.

Bayo scored 12 goals for Toulouse but it wasn’t enough to help them back to promotion to the French top flight.

In July 2019 Celtic signed Chris Jullien from the French side, part of that £7m transfer fee could be involved in a deal that sees Bayo head in the opposite direction.
