Last Friday it was widely reported that Celtic were in advanced talks to appoint a manager after Eddie Howe turned down the job. Today the Daily Mail claims that negotiations are progressing well.

It is now over 100 days since Neil Lennon resigned as manager, less than a fortnight away from pre-season training the club is still without a permanent manager.

The search for a new boss seems to be concentrated on Ange Postecoglou. It seems that the dozens of top flight, fully qualified coaches operating across Europe have been overlooked for a 55-year-old who has shown no inclination to work in Europe following a brief spell with Panachaiki in the Greek Third Division in 2008.

The Daily Record reports:

Postecoglou is currently managing in Japan with the Yokohoma F Marinos on the other side of the world. According to reports in The Daily Mail negotiations with Celtic are progressing well despite the problems posed by different time zones, with Japan eight hours ahead of Scotland.

Should Ange Postecoglou be offered the Celtic job?

Despite a flood of pundits and former players in Australia singing the praises for Postecoglou there doesn’t appear to be much enthusiasm from Celtic fans for the appointment.

There has been no reports of who is carrying out Celtic’s negotiations in Japan to secure a deal with Yokohama Marinos and their manager.

Yokohama have got three matches coming up on June 6, 9 and 13, with a 10-day quarantine period required for visitors from Japan, as well as the issue of a UEFA Pro Licence it looks unlikely that there will be a new voice when Celtic start pre-season training on June 17.
