Toulouse are hoping to bring Vakoun Bayo back for another season on loan.

The striker scored a dozen goals last season in the French Second Division but doesn’t appear likely to have a part to play in Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild.

Bayo joined Celtic during the infamous January 2019 transfer window with Brendan Rodgers quitting for Leicester before February was out.

With a year left to run on his Celtic contract this summer is a critical time for the Ivorian but it seems more likely that he will spend next season in France than in the SPFL.

Toulouse president, Damien Comolli told The Sun:

I want to clarify the case of Vakoun Bayo. Yes, he was missing at the start of our pre-season training, but I am awaiting an answer from him imminently.

I would very much like to count him in the squad for next season and so would our manager, Philippe Montanier, too. Our stated aim for this season is a place in the top two and to achieve that, we need the best possible squad.

Marian Shved, Andrew Gutman and Manny Perez were also signed in January 2019 with none of that trio starting a single match. Shved is still at Celtic but seems more likely to be playing in Belgium next season than at Celtic.
