Callum McGregor put in an outstanding 90 minutes as Scotland drew 0-0 with England at Wembley.

The Celtic midfielder joined John McGinn and Billy Gilmour in midfield as Steve Clarke’s side dug in for a well-deserved point.

Gareth Southgate switched his full-backs from the 1-0 win over Croatia but found themselves over run by the Scotland midfield who were backed up by two wing-backs as well as Kieran Tierney and Scott McTominay breaking from defence.

McGregor turned in a disciplined 90 minutes, sticking to the left-hand side of the midfield, showing perfect awareness and ball retention.

The highly rated Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips made little impression on the game with Scotland finishing the night looking the most likely to score.

McGregor and Co now need to beat Croatia on Tuesday to progress to the last 16, a draw would see Croatia finish in third place but unlikely to go through to the knock-out stage.
