Liam Shaw has passed his first big test- impressing his new Celtic team-mates.

The midfielder signed a pre-contract agreement while Neil Lennon was at the club and formally joined earlier this month.

Shaw was at Lennoxtown for Day 1 of pre-season training on June 18 and has made a big impression on his new-team mates with his performances in training.

Next week he will get the chance to make his Celtic debut, on Wednesday to be precise against his former team-mates from Sheffield.

Despite the lack of new signings and the loss of Scott Brown to Aberdeen, Ange Postecoglou has a number of midfielders to look at during the matches in Wales.

Ewan Henderson, Kerr McInroy, Scott Robertson and Luca Connell all went out on loan last season, returning to find midfield places looking invitingly open.

With Olivier Ntcham training elsewhere and Ryan Christie expected to be sold Shaw and the returning loan players have the perfect opportunity to impress with the first competitive game of the season, against Midtjylland in the Champions League just 20 days away.
