Shay Logan has been charged by Police Scotland over money laundering.

The former Aberdeen defender has become a bizarre figure over recent years, developing an obsession over Scott Brown and trying to create some sort of rivalry between himself, Brown and the Celtic support.

Going on your stag-do dressed as an opposition player is fairly unusual behaviour but it seems that behind the scenes he has some other issues going on in his life.

The Scottish Sun reports:

FOOTIE ace Shay Logan was nicked by cops and accused of money laundering. Officers swooped on the former Dons star, 33, when he returned from a holiday in Portugal with his wife Samantha.

He was quizzed at a police station in Aberdeen and charged with an offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act before being released.

Logan and Sam had posted social media snaps of them soaking up the sun in Vilamoura in the Algarve.

A source said: “The police were waiting for Shay to get back from his holiday. It’s fair to say it wasn’t a great coming home present. It probably came as a bit of a shock.”

Manchester-born Logan was charged under Section 327 of the Proceeds of Crime Act. This relates to concealing, converting, disguising or transferring criminal property.

In 2014 Aleksandar Tonev was given a seven match SFA suspension on the balance of possibility. Perhaps the SFA and Celtic may wish to review that decision which was based on the word of Logan with no supporting evidence against the Bulgarian. Logan was deemed to be a more reliable witness.

Logan is now a free agent after being released by Aberdeen, he ended the 2020/21 season on loan at Hearts.
