Respected reporter names Celtic’s ‘new’ Technical Director

Gordon Strachan is set to return to Celtic as Director of Football.

That is the claim made tonight by Alan Nixon of The Sun, a year ago he exclusively revealed that Gavin Strachan was on his way to Celtic to replace Damien Duff as first team coach. Gordon has another son, Craig, who has been scouting at Celtic for over a decade.

With Peter Lawwell stepping down as CEO at the end of June Celtic are light on football know how to work with Ange Postecoglou who has little in the way of contacts within the British game.

Gordon Strachan has extensive links throughout the game in Scotland and England and is crucially viewed as a very safe pair of hands by Dermot Desmond who appointed him as Celtic boss in 2005 to follow Martin O’Neill.

Nixon of The Sun reports:

GORDON STRACHAN is being lined up for a dramatic return to Celtic. The former Hoops boss, 64, is expected to be offered a new senior role at the club.

Strachan has been working as technical director with Dundee — but now he is poised for a move back to Glasgow in a similar position. The ex-Scotland boss is admired by Celtic owner Dermot Desmond from his time at the club.

And he is just the right type of experienced figure they need in an upstairs job. Hoops have brought in Aussie coach Ange Postecoglou after failing to land Eddie Howe.

Should Celtic appoint Gordon Strachan as Technical Director

Yes, a far sighted, enlightened choice

No way, this is wrong in so many ways
