Ange Postecoglou is expected at Lennoxtown on Thursday as he gets his first sight of the squad he has inherited and the club’s training facilities.

The Australian has been based in London since being appointed as Celtic boss but will be clear to travel to Scotland and take up his job in a more familiar manner.

A June 24 start date will give him time to assess the squad before the Welsh training camp with the opening pre-season game on July 7 against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Sun reports:

ANGE POSTECOGLOU’S first day at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training base will be later this week. SunSport understands the Aussie-Greek coach will be in attendance at the Hoops’ HQ on THURSDAY.

The 55-year-old met up with CEO Dom McKay in London last week after completing his UK quarantine. The new Hoops boss was forced to self isolate after arriving from Japan following his move from J1 League side Yokohama F. Marinos.

Postecoglou was in attendance for Scotland’s 0-0 draw with England at Wembley on Friday night and now he is ready to get down to the hard work on the training pitch at the end of this week.

The new Celtic boss has less than a month to get his side in shape for the opening competitive match at home to Midtjylland on July 20.

So far no new signings have been made by Postecoglou but it is believed that Tony Ralston has had the 12 month clause on his contract taken up.

Leigh Griffiths wasn’t at Lennoxtown last week but is expected to hold talks with Postecoglou this week with the striker out of contract on June 30.
