Tom Allison’s face popped up in public yesterday with many Celtic fans thinking ‘Tom who?’ as he featured on a Green Brigade banner.
It is no bad thing that a non-executive Director keeps out of the public eye but as he approaches the 20th anniversary of his appointment it is not unreasonable to ask if he has over-stayed his welcome.
One of the key roles of a Non-Executive Director (NED) is to question the Board to ensure that they are adhering to best practise. By the time a decade is up it is fair to suggest that the relationship between a NED and the company might be a little too cosy with Allison regularly pictured in the Directors Box alongside his old Clydeport colleague Peter Lawwell.
Finding Allison passing comment on Celtic matters is almost impossible, throughout 20 eventful years he seems to have made no meaningful interventions.
A new broom will soon go through the first team squad, judging by the comments below a clear out of the boardroom would be just as welcome.
Allison is on the Remuneration Committee alongside Ian Bankier (Chairman since 2011) and Brian Wilson (NED since 2005).
This guy has been on the board since 2001. 20 years. Willing to bet majority of Celtic fans haven’t a clue who he is or what his contribution to the club amounts to. Having a Non Exec director in place for 20 years is poor corporate governance https://t.co/LDCw3S0U55

He waves through big pay rises for Peter Lawwell while we replace Kieran Tierney with Greg Taylor

He’s the reason Lawwell has lasted so long and probably responsible for his appointment as CEO.

Today’s featured NED sits on the Remuneration Committee which set PL’s salary. They worked together at Clydeport……

It’s all only in the best interests of Lawell… being a former CEO in a public listed company this just does not happen. Average tenure is 3-5 years

Last I looked he has 3.56% of shareholding. Currently ranking as 5th highest investor in Celtic. The tenures of all except Sharon Brown and Chris McKay are very unhealthy

No longer independent ?https://t.co/YCfwavTl7Z

I’d be interested to see how much he’s taken out of the club in terms of salary over that period

Always wondered who he is and what he’s done for the club. Still none the wiser ?

Yeah, the Celtic gravy train.
