Celtic fans generally reacted favourably to speculation that Mat Ryan could be on his way to the Hoops.
The arrival of Ange Postecoglou has brought about a fresh wave of speculation with Brighton’s Australian goalkeeper an obvious target on many grounds.
Ryan was first choice for three seasons at Brighton before losing his place to Robert Sanchez last season. A loan move to Arsena in Januaryl fulfilled a childhood dream but provided only three first team appearances.
With a year left on his contract at Brighton the career of the 29-year-old is at a delicate stage.
Whether Celtic under Postecoglou would be an appealing prospect remains to be seen. What can’t be doubted is that Celtic are in need of a dominating goalkeeper, of the type that hasn’t been seen since Fraser Forster returned to Southampton after helping to secure 9-in-a-row.
The new Celtic manager will inherit many problems, one of the most obvious in goals. Varsilis Barkas and Scott Bain were unconvincing as they shared duties last season with Conor Hazard being in place when the Scottish Cup was won against Hearts in December.
Celtic are weighing up a move for Brighton keeper Mat Ryan.
They’re assessing goalkeeping options & Ange Postecoglou is keen on Ryan. No formal talks have taken place yet.@skysports_sheth & @elliotcook01 reported yesterday that Arsenal and clubs in France & Spain are also keen

He has a year left at Brighton I think, very good keeper and if it is true he may be swayed with getting first team footy!
