With multiple other issues to deal with Ange Postecoglou could really do without the Leigh Griffiths situation.
Backing for the player has ebbed away over the last couple of years, bar a few idealists there weren’t many complaining when his contract expired on June 30.
There was genuine surprise when a 12-month contract was announced the following day before a very dark episode occurred.
No criminality was established, Griffiths was named in Celtic’s UEFA squad with Ange Postecoglou confirming that the player had returned to training following a club investigation.
Yesterday the moment of truth arrived as the 30-year-old came onto the pitch among 10 substitutions made in the 54th minute.
Having just gone 4-2 behind the atmosphere was flat, there were no great expectations that the new look side would turn the match around but Griffiths became the focal point.
Taking every corner he could hear the comments of the Season Ticket holders present. Numbers are hard to establish but there was significant booing as well as some cheers and applause.
Celtic have got plenty of issues to deal with, adding Griffiths to that list seems a massive misjudgement with his backers dwindling quicker than his goal return.
