Celtic are reported to be €1m short with a bid for Aurelio Buta.

The right-back is in the final year of his contract with Royal Antwerp but the Belgian side are reported to be holding out for a €3.5m deal.

On Friday Ange Postecoglou told Sky Sports that Celtic had three targets for every position that needs filled with Tony Ralston the first choice after making just one appearance last season.

Antwerp picked Buta up from Benfica for €800,000 three years ago but will know that Celtic are fighting against time to give Postecoglou a squad capable of repairing the damage done last season.

Osaza Urhoghide replaced Ralston after 54 minutes of today’s 6-2 defeat from West Ham but doesn’t look comfortable playing out on the right.

Over the last two years Celtic have signed Hatem Abd Elhamed, Lee O’Connor, Moritz Bauer and Jonjoe Kenny to play at right-back with O’Connor the only player still at the club.
