Celtic are reported to be on the brink of signing Bosun Lawal.

At first sight the surname seems like someone is mischief making but the 18-year-old is currently at Watford, making his Ireland u-21 debut last month.

Celtic have signed Luca Connell and Lee O’Connor from within the same set up with a Dublin based podcast first to break the story.

Picking up on the breaking news from Following The Floodlights, Dublin radio station Q102 reports:

Republic of Ireland under 21 international Bosun Lawal looks set to sign a multi-year contract at Celtic.

According to Football Podcast “Following the Floodlights” the highly rated 18-year old, a product of St Kevin’s Boys in Dublin, passed a medical and will put pen to paper on a three year contract at Parkhead.

Lawal will make the move from Watford, where he was named the player of the year at the clubs academy. He had only recently been called up and played for the Ireland u-21 in the recent camp in Marbella, he’s played in green at all other underage levels.

The midfielder was born a week after Celtic’s UEFA Cup Final appearance against Porto and could go straight into the Colts squad that begin their Lowland League campaign on Saturday away to Bonnyrigg Rose on Saturday. Last month Celtic signed Joey Dawson from Scunthorpe in similar circumstances.

Lawal moved to Watford in 2019 from St Kevin’s Boys Club in Dublin, last season he was voted Academy Player of the Year.

Over the last two years Celtic appear to have put an emphasis on signing younger players from English clubs with Jonathan Afolabi and Jeremie Frimpong arriving from the same source.
