The final signing on Celtic’s disastrous January 2019 transfer window left the club today- after just three substitute appearances.

Marian Shved has swapped two years of his Celtic contract for three at Mechelen with the winger leaving as much of a mystery as his arrival.

Brendan Rodgers made it quite clear that Shved wasn’t his choice, within a month of the reported £2m transfer he had upped sticks to take charge of Leicester City.

At the start of that window Oli Burke and Timo Weah arrived on loan to give the team a lift but neither was ever going to stay on long term.

American ‘starlets’ Andrew Gutman and Manny Perez were signed but never saw the light of day due to work permit issues.

Vakoun Bayo was signed to make up for the goals lost by the absence of Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele. After starting one match he spent last season on loan at Toulouse before a quiet departure to Gent.

Next season Bayo will face Shved in the Belgian league as Celtic count the cost of two more failed Lawwell projects.
