Two Russian sides are expected to join Celtic in putting offers in for Kevin Nisbet.

The striker has scored with ease at Raith Rovers, Dunfermline and Hibs over the last three seasons and featured in Scotland’s European Championship squad.

With Odsonne Edouard expected to leave Celtic during the transfer window the ideal scenario would be to have a replacement signed up before the Frenchman departs.

Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths for a variety of reasons failed to deliver much last season while Nisbet scored 14 goals from 28 Premiership starts in his first season in the top flight.

The Daily Record reports:

Spartak Moscow and Krasnodar are both on red alert for a possible summer swoop for Scotland star Kevin Nisbet. Both Russian sides are interested in the free-scoring Hibs striker.

They have been alerted to his free-scoring campaigns with Dunfermline and then with Hibs in his first season in the Scottish top-flight.

Spartak and Krasnodar scouts have had Nisbet covered at Euro 2020 and are continuing to watch his situation closely at club level.

The Easter Road club knocked back bids in excess of £2 million from Birmingham City in the last window and it would take an offer far in excess of those levels even to get them to the table.

Celtic travel to Wales today without any significant additions to last season’s squad with their international players in various stages of fitness after extended campaigns.

Three matches against English opponents will be followed by a home friendly against Preston North End before it all gets real with a home match against Midtjylland on July 20.
