Benson Anang is the latest right-back to be linked with a move to Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear that he needs to strengthen that position with reports from Belgium suggesting that a deal for Aurelio Buta is almost complete.

Anang plays in Slovakia for MSK Zilina. Vakoun Bayo left the Slovakian league for Celtic in January 2019, failing to make any impression before a low key departure.

Sports World Ghana reports:

Scottish powerhouse Celtic FC have expressed interest in signing Ghana international defender Benson Anang, SportsworldGhana.com understands.

Anang, 21, made his Ghana debut in a 5-1 win over Qatar last October and has since received 2 calls from Ghana coach Charles Akonnor.

The right-back, who is on the books of Slovakian side MSK Zilina, has been impressive for the Fortuna Liga club in their maiden campaign in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The former New Life FC defender has completed 270 minutes in 3 games for Zilina and his show for the Žlto-Zelení has attracted interest from Celtic who want to re-establish their domestic dominance after losing out on the title challenge to Rangers last term.

Celtic lost Dutch-Ghanaian right-back Jeremie Frimpong to Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen last season and want to bring in the Ghanaian to fill the void created by Frimpong’s absence.

After selling Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed in January Celtic brought in Jonjoe Kenny on loan but a permanent deal for the Everton defender was never an option.

Tony Ralston looks like starting tonight against Midtjylland but after making just one appearance last season he has his work cut out to nail down a place.

Lee O’Connor and Osaze Urhoghide were given time at right-back in pre-season matches but are unlikely to have much of a future with Ralston currently being preferred.
