Rob Atkinson has joined Bristol City despite earlier reported interest from Celtic.
Transfer specialist Alan Nixon had tweeted about Celtic’s interest in the defender who was a regular in the Oxford side that reached the Play Offs for the Championship before losing out to Blackpool.
Central defence is an area that Celtic need to strengthen with the club showing increasing interest in the English market over the last couple of years.

Bristol City. Getting closer to Oxford valuation for Rob Atkinson. Take around 1.6m. Celtic like him too.

Over the last 13 months Celtic have lost Jozo Simunovic and Jack Hendry with no additions brought in to central defence.
Even without factoring in the likely departure of Kris Ajer that area of the team is in need of strengthening with Stephen Welsh, Nir Bitton and the currently injured Chris Jullien as the only options.
Celtic have been strongly linked with Mario Vuskovic of Hadjuk Split but with just over a fortnight to go until the Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland the time to bring in new signings is fast running out.
