Celtic are reported to have made a £1m bid for Sacha Boey.

Ange Postecoglou identified right-back as a problem are which sounds like bad news for Tony Ralston and Lee O’Connor.

At the weekend the hoops were credited with an interest in Brandon Soppy but according to the Glasgow Times they have their eyes on another Rennes defender:

Celtic have lodged a bid for Rennes right-back Sacha Boey in the region of £1million. The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Dijon in France but has returned to his parent club.

But the Hoops are in desperate need of a full-back on the right-hand side and the youngster would represent a good deal in terms of value for money and potential sell-on worth.

Ange Postecoglou is also believed to be interested in Boey’s teammate Brandon Soppy but Herald and Times Sport understands there has been no concrete movement on that deal thus far.

Celtic finished last season with Jonjo Kenny playing at right-back but after his initial couple of matches there was never any suggestion that a permanent move should be followed up.

Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong were sold during the January transfer window with no real solution found in that area since Mikael Lustig left in May 2019.

If a deal can be agreed for Boey the club will then have their work cut out to get him into the UK and assess his fitness making a debut next week at home to Midtjylland seem unlikely.
