Celtic appear to be turning to the City Football Group to solve their right-back problem position.

Ange Postecoglou was appointed from within the CFG with The Sun reporting Yan Couto as a transfer target.

Tony Ralston managed just one top team appearance last season but appears to be the man in possession with Lee O’Connor failing to be named in the Champions League squad registered with UEFA.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC want Man City right-back Yan Couto on loan. The 19-year-old Brazilian spent last season at Spanish side Girona.

City boss Pep Guardiola will farm him out again this season and Celtic are in the mix. The Parkhead club have close links to the Premier League champions after a string of deals in recent years.

The report is from David Friel who broke the exclusive news of Neil Lennon resigning ahead of Celtic’s announcement to the Stock Exchange.

Over the last two years Celtic have signed Hatem Abd Elhamed, Moritz Bauer, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonjoe Kenny to play right-back with Kris Ajer also being used in that position.

Last season Couto made 22 appearances for Girona in the Spanish Second Division.

Mark Lawwell, son of Peter, is Head of Scouting and Recruiting at Manchester City.
