The Daily Record is attempting to add credibility to reports that Alfredo Morelos is a transfer target for Porto.

It is a well-established part of the transfer window to link the Colombian ace with a glamour move only for nothing to materialise.

In January 2017 a mystery Chinese club were reported to be offering £8m, Dave King once said that he’d reject offers of £40m but with the goals drying up it seems that the striker’s value is dropping back towards 2017 values.

Porto have regularly been linked with preparing a bid, the latest yarn is that Morelos has told his circle of friends that he is keen to join the Portuguese side but that requires a bid and agreement to sell from the Ibrox club.

The Daily Record reports:

Alfredo Morelos has not asked for a transfer or indicated he wants to leave Rangers. Reports this afternoon have emerged in Portugal that the Colombian has told his ‘inner circle’ wants to bring an end to his four year stay at Ibrox.

Record Sport understands that this is news to the Light Blues. Morelos is due back to Rangers, as scheduled, after his involvement in the Copa America with Colombia.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has already made it clear that he expects Morelos to be fit and ready to hit the ground running.

With Kemar Roofe suspended for four UEFA matches and Jermain Defoe injured the Ibrox side are short of options ahead of the qualifiers to the Champions League.
