Dermot Desmond made a rare visit to Scotland but it’s not to get hands on with the ‘Postecoglou Revolution.

Celtic’s largest individual shareholder pitched his golf buggy up in Berwick where he’ll be watching the Scottish Open, joining Rory McIlroy on the Fairways during the final practise day. McIlroy hasn’t won a major since 2014.

Postecoglou faces his first match in charge this afternoon with only Osaze Urhoghide added to last season’s squad that failed to pick up a domestic honour other than the left-over Scottish Cup Final from the 2019/20 season. Desmond wasn’t pictured at any Celtic match last season.

While the arrivals of Martin O’Neill and Brendan Rodgers had the stamp of Desmond about them it seems that the recruitment of Postecoglou was more of a domestic matter.

With Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon no longer at the wheel Celtic has a new look to it but with 20 plus years experience in the boardroom, on the fairways or off Desmond will remain the biggest single influence at Celtic.
