The well of good-will to Odsonne Edouard ran dry last night in Denmark.

The former Paris Saint Germain striker, the record goal-scorer for the French u-21 side made no impression whatsoever on the Midtjylland as Celtic crashed out of the Champions League to Midtjylland.

Nothing went right for Edouard, the most concerning aspect was that it didn’t seem to bother him too much. The striker is generally quite laid back but last night’s performance seemed to cross a border.

If it wasn’t laid on a plate to him it wasn’t worth contesting, passes to team-mates were under-hit, in the air he was barely able to contest a ball.

With less than a year to go on his contract the warning signs have been obvious. Typical of Celtic there was no Plan B with Albian Ajeti the only striker on the bench. At home Leigh Griffiths was nursing a calf strain after failing to play a full 90 minutes in the whole of last season.

Brighton may be about to come in with the £20m offer to take Edouard to the EPL, if it happens it will be the weakest sign off following four years of scoring highlights but marred by a half-hearted farewell.
