Most folk know that it’s not wise to poke fun at your employer- no matter how ridiculous things appear to be.

Privately you can shake your head, think whatever you like but mocking their judgement in public is a complete no-no. Unless you are Chris Sutton and the Daily Record.

The former Celtic striker knows how the Scottish media works, especially those desperate Glasgow publishers who couldn’t tell their declining readership about the real events of 2012.

For more than four years there has been regular stories linking Tav and Alfredo Morelos with big money moves without anything substantial turning up.

Over the same period Celtic have sold Kieran Tierney, Moussa Dembele and Jeremie Frimpong for eight figure fees. At £1.75m the sale of Josh Windass in 2018 is the biggest fee that the Ibrox club has picked up in their nine year history.

Another Morelos circus is underway just now, Porto are the side lining up a bid/preparing an offer/keeping tabs etc etc.

Sutton knows the game well, the fact that he can joke about one of his media partners suggests that he is more important to the Record than vice versa.
