Celtic fans were far from delighted by the news that 2,000 supporters will be able to attend next Saturday’s friendly with Preston North End. The club may be delighted, their customers certainly aren’t.
This week over 40,000 Celtic Season Ticket holders have watched Wembley host back-to-back matches with 60,000 in attendance. Wimbledon crowds are getting bigger by the day.
Yet in Scotland, in Glasgow, at the stadium that hosted the opening ceremony for the 2014 Commonwealth Games only 2,000 football fans will be allowed to watch. That is far less than the number allowed into Glasgow Green to drink alcohol at the Fanzone while Scotland were involved in the European Championships.
Hampden was able to hold 12,500 for four matches last month at the European Championships, 25% of capacity, for the visit of Preston only 3.3% of the capacity of Celtic Park will be used.
When Celtic face Preston, 15 miles away at Fir Park 2,000 fans will be able to watch Motherwell take on Queen of the South in the League Cup.
Having shelled out again for Season Tickets the least that Celtic could do is challenge the 2,000 restriction, if Dom McKay doesn’t want to rock the boat with the Scottish Government he might find that the goodwill since taking over from Peter Lawwell quickly runs dry.

So why are their allowed to be at least 60k at Wembley and 25k at Murrayfield

So 3 weeks ago I was at Hampden with 9,000 odd other people, but only 2,000 can now attend a game and also inside a larger stadium. Dunno if that makes sense to me ??
