Chris Jullien is still a few months away from appearing for Celtic.

The defender required knee surgery after colliding with a goalpost in the final match of 2020 with the initial verdict being that he’d be out for three or four months.

Jullien was heavily involved with Celtic’s first shirt launch of the summer but has yet to feature in any of the matches under Ange Postecoglou.

On paper a partnership between the Frenchman and Carl Starfelt would carry a lot of promise but Ange Postecoglou will have to wait some time before working on that pairing.

12 minutes 30 seconds:

With Chris he is still a little bit away. We are really happy, he is working really hard, I would expect at least another couple of months for him.

Jullien was listed in the Celtic squad with UEFA for the matches against Midtjylland. Stephen Welsh is likely to be partnered by Dane Murray against Midtjylland tomorrow night with Leo Hjelde the other option to play in central defence.

Starfelt could make his debut in Saturday’s match away to Hearts but with Jullien out for a few more months there could be another central defender signed during the current transfer window.
