Ange Postecoglou hasn’t ruled out a Celtic return for Boli Bolingoli.

Last August the defender turned Celtic’s season upside down when a trip to Spain resulted in the postponement of two matches. Other factors were involved in the collapse of the season but that blow followed by defeat from Ferencvaros proved to be significant.

After spending the season on loan in Turkey, including appearances in the Champions League for Basaksehir, Bolingoli is back at Celtic and with the first team squad.

Injuries have kept him out of the wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic but with two more friendlies before the Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland there could yet be a surprise recall.

Discussing Bolingoli, Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

While they are here, they have all got a future. I can’t control who wants to stay and who wants to leave. If people don’t want to stay, that’s fine.

But anyone who is here at the moment, I will treat them as part of the group and give everyone an opportunity to be part of where we are heading.

Greg Taylor and Adam Montgomery have played at left-back in the two games under Postecoglou but with a thin squad all options have to be considered.

Celtic paid a reported fee of £2.5m to Rapid Vienna to sign Bolingoli in July 2019 with his contract running until May 2023.
