Negotiations between Celtic and Royal Antwerp over Aurelio Buta are reported to be progressing well.

A gap of 1 million euros is reported but it seems that both clubs are looking to get business completed.

Voetbal Nieuws reports:

In the meantime, a player is about to leave Antwerp. After all, the negotiations with Celtic about a transfer from Aurelio Buta are progressing well. The Scots have made an offer of 2.5 million euros, but Antwerp wants 3.5 million.

Buta has a year left on the four year contract that he signed when he left Benfica. Celtic have a pressing urge to bring in a right-back while the Belgian side know that in January the defender will be free to sign a pre-contract deal elsewhere.

If a deal can be agreed it’s likely that Buta would require to spend 10 days in quarantine before he can get to Lennoxtown to join up with his new team-mates.

Saturday’s 6-2 destruction from West Ham was a reminder to Celtic fans of the scale of the rebuilding job that Ange Postecoglou faces, so far Carl Starfelt replacing Kris Ajer has been the only surgery carried out on the hoops defence.
