Celtic have made a move to sign Fraser Forster for an incredible FIFTH time.

The keeper has a year left to run on his Southampton deal with Celtic failing to adequately replace him after he helped to deliver nine-in-a-row, playing in 28 of the 30 SPFL matches under Neil Lennon.

Forster also starred in Celtic’s Betfred Cup success and made a huge contribution to the home and away wins over Lazio that saw them top their Europa League group..

A year ago Celtic spent £4m signing Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens but he ended up sharing duties with Scott Bain and Conor Hazard with none of those options making the sort of contribution that Forster has the previous season.

Now, dramatically, The Sun reports:

FRASER FORSTER is wanted on loan again by Celtic. The Southampton goalie was a hero for the Hoops during his last stint.

Now the new regime at Parkhead have opened talks with Saints about a shock return for Forster. But this time Celts will have to pay more.

They ‘stole’ the keeper during his previous loan period, when they paid only a fraction of his salary. The Premier League outfit now want around half of his £130,000-a-week, but are more likely to pay a third.

Forster made 13 top team appearances last season for Southampton helping the club to the semi-final of the FA Cup.

As one of their highest earners moving out on loan would ease the stress on club funds, whether Celtic can match the terms that Southampton are looking for remains to be seen.
