Image for The Sun goes public on Ibrox media ban

The Sun has gone public on the media conditions at Ibrox.

Pictures from yesterday’s friendly match against Real Madrid are thin on the ground after the club decided to charge for media access.

For £25,000 a publisher can send a reporter to the match while a further £25,000 allows them to send a photographer to share images from the game.

Newspapers have traditionally enjoyed a two-way relationship with football clubs where they provide free publicity and get access to content that attracts advertisers.

Egged up by the fanatics in social media the Ibrox club have decided to introduce charging, at the bottom of their match report The Sun states:

**There are no live images of today’s match as our photographers have been denied access to cover the game**

The Daily Record doesn’t carry any match pictures either but have chosen not to mention the issue to their army of readers.

Scottish News and Sport are the biggest picture agency in Scotland but haven’t provided any picture coverage from the three matches staged at Ibrox. Veteran Ibrox photographer Willie Vass hasn’t been snapping either.

With the SPFL season kicking off on Saturday new sponsor Cinch aren’t likely to get the exposure that they were expecting with Saturday’s match against Livingston live on Sky Sports with just 17,000 loyal bears attending.
