Ange Postecoglou has had little chance to work on shape, tactics or formation as he nurses a squad through pre-season matches with speculation, in coming and out going all around him.
Injuries are always a factor at this time of the season as clubs concentrate on fitness work with some big names missing from Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Preston North End.
Kris Ajer seems to be on his way to Brentford but the return of Bitton brings some experience even though the Israeli has only played in one of the four pre-season matches to date.
After the defeat from Preston, BBC Scotland reported:
James Forrest is a major doubt for Tuesday’s game after returning from a 10-day self-isolation period, while fellow wingers Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele picked up injuries against Bristol City on Wednesday.
However, while midfielders Ismaila Soro, Ryan Christie and Nir Bitton were all absent against Preston, they could be in contention to face Midtjylland.
Forrest had to self-isolate while his team-mates were in Wales but is now back in training, at a push he could make the bench on Tuesday.
Celtic have until 11pm on Monday to add two new players to their squad list but it would be asking a lot for anyone to make their debut the day after being signed.
