Celtic’s move for Carl Starfelt looks to be back on with talks underway for a new right-back.
Fabrizio Romano has become the go-to Twitter source for Celtic transfer news after breaking the news of interest in the Swedish defender.
After a false start in midweek when it was claimed that Starfelt was undergoing a medical the deal seems to be entering its final stages as today’s lunchtime tweet revealed.
Celtic are looking for a new right back after agreement completed to sign Carl Starfelt as centre back from Rubin Kazan. ??????? #Celtic
Brandon Soppy is one of the options – talks ongoing also with Royal Antwerp for Portuguese right back Aurélio Buta. ???

Buta is in the final year of his Royal Antwerp contract, the 24-year-old moved to Belgium from Benfica in 2018.
Right-back is clearly a concern for Ange Postecoglou who tried Tony Ralston, Lee O’Connor and Osaze Urhoghide in that role during three pre-season matches in Wales.
The race will now be on to get Starfelt and a right-back signed up before Monday’s 11pm deadline to be eligible to play against Midtjylland in the Champions League.
Tuesday’s first leg might be a stretch but with a friendly against West Ham on Saturday before the match in Denmark on July 28 there could be a chance of two new faces in the back four.
