Kyogo Furuhashi was given an incredible send off by Vissel Kobe ahead of his move to Celtic.
The 26-year-old opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw with Cerezo Osaka, at the final whistle there were unforgettable scenes as Furuhashi waved farewell to the J League.
Celtic still have to complete the formalities of the transfer but all parties seem happy to acknowledge that the transfer is happening.
Yesterday’s goal was Furuhashi’s 15th in 21 matches this season which will give Ange Postecoglou some consolation after watching his side fail to score in the home defeat from Preston North End.
Having 2,000 fans inside Celtic Park didn’t make much difference to another low key performance that didn’t provide many clues as to how Celtic will shape up against Midtjylland on Tuesday night.
Liel Abada added some pace and energy in the second half but Postecoglou will know that it will take a substantial effort to get his side past the Danes to keep alive the hope of Champions League football for the first time since 2017.
