Marian Shved appears to be close to returning to Mechelen.

The winger spent last season on loan with the Belgian side and appears not to have taken any part in Celtic’s pre-season preparations.

With a contract running until May 2023 a permanent move seems unlikely but throughout the close season Mechelen have regularly been linked with the 24-year-old.

Translate: Marian Shved was at Kavé yesterday, we can imagine good news soon.

Last season Shved started nine matches for Mechelen, came off the bench in another 13 and scored four goals. When he joined Celtic in January 2019 fans were impressed by the You Tube clips from Karpaty Lviv.

Shved was instantly returned to Karpaty on loan, when he returned to Celtic in the summer Brendan Rodgers had been replaced by Neil Lennon.

Ange Postecoglou’s first two transfer fees have been paid for wingers Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi pushing Shved further out the picture.

In total Shved has made three brief substitute appearances including a debut goal away to Nomme Kalju but it now looks highly unlikely that he will add to that total as Celtic and Mechelen try to sort out a deal.
