Steve Clarke has revealed that ‘Rangers’ have a little issue with Jon McLaughlin.

Last night, on the eve of UEFA testing before facing Real Alashkert in Armenia the Ibrox club admitted that players have tested positive with close contacts self-isolating.

Today the Ibrox club face a six hour flight to Armenia, having to choose from a squad that shared a four hour coach journey back from Dingwall on Sunday.

McLaughlin has made three first team appearances this season including the first two SPFL matches and a Premier Sports Cup tie against Dunfermline.

The former Sunderland keeper was part of Clarke’s European Championship squad in the summer but has been replaced by uncapped duo Zander Clark and Liam Kelly for next week’s internationals.

Clarke told the Daily Record:

Jon’s got a little issue at Rangers. Rangers told us he wasn’t available so he misses out. He’s always been in our squad and he’s played a few games this season.

I watched him play at Tannadice and he’s expecting to play a few more games this season. When he’s fit and available he’ll be at the front of my mind for selection.

The Ibrox squad fly out from Glasgow Airport at lunchtime today, the flight list will reveal who else have little issues.
