Ange Postecoglou has given a nod of confirmation towards Celtic’s interest in Josip Juranovic.

The Legia Warsaw defender was first linked with Celtic last week after the Poles were knocked out of the Champions League.

Yan Couto of Manchester City attended Celtic’s Europa League win over Jablonec last week but that door closed when he agreed a loan deal to join Portuguese side Braga.

While this speculation has been on-going Tony Ralston has put in a strong run of performances to ease the strain in filling that position.

As a current Croatian international Juranovic would expect to go straight into the Celtic side instantly creating competition for a position that belonged to Jonjoe Kenny in the second half of last season.

Asked about Juranovic, Postecoglou said:

He’d be one of a number of right full-backs we have been linked to over the period I have been here. It’s obviously an area where we definitely need some cover. At the moment Anthony Ralston is doing an outstanding job and I think there’s more in him to improve but he can’t play every game.

So it’s definitely an area we need to strengthen and it’s an area we are targeting and I’m hoping for us to add to, but to nail it down to one person, that’s not how it’s been working.

We are working on multiple targets in each position because, the way the market is at the moment, there’s no guarantee you’ll get anyone over the line. That’s probably why I have been linked with so many people but in terms of deals done, nothing is done yet.

Celtic were strongly linked with Aurelio Buta of Royal Antwerp earlier in the transfer window but that trail seemed to go cold when Everton were quoted with an interest.
