Ange Postecoglou has revealed that he intends to return to the Japanese transfer market- but not until January.

The new Celtic boss seems to have pulled off a masterstroke with the signing of Kyogo Furuhashi who is currently the top scorer in the J League and the SPFL.

It is a more than a decade since Celtic signed Shunsuke Nakamura and Ki Sung Yeung from Asia but the early signs are that Kyogo is of the same quality.

The likely loss of Odsonne Edouard was something that Celtic fans were dreading but the arrival of former Vissel Kobe striker has given the side a fresh burst of enthusiasm- and goals.

I’ve been looking at it very closely. I know the Japanese market very well but it’s also a tricky time because they’re still mid-season.

There’s a lot of players I’d love to have a look at closely and bring over, but I know it’ll be almost impossible to get them out.

Clubs are still playing for the league, cup and Champions League so they’re very reluctant to let them go. Traditionally it’s always been easier to get them out during our winter break which is the end of their season. It’s a market I know well and there’s a lot of talent there people still haven’t realised.

Celtic have 10 days left to complete their transfer business with Kyogo, Liel Abada, Joe Hart, Carl Starfelt and James McCarthy all signed up by Postecoglou.

The Celtic boss is still anxious to get players signed up, if he is able to bring in the players he wants the January window should be less frantic as he makes selective moves in the J League based on his three years in charge of Yokohomo Marinos.
