Celtic appear to be closing in on a deal to sign Harrison Ashby on loan from West Ham.
The deal was mentioned late last night on Twitter by the Morton reporter at the Greenock Telegraph but it seems that the original source was the highly credible ex-WHU Employee who has over 100,000 Twitter followers and his own Patreon service.
Whoever he is ex WHU Employee seems to have fantastic sources inside the club, 13 months ago he was perfectly anticipating the transfer of Albian Ajeti as it went through an off-on stage, moving from loan to permanent deal.
Ashby has played for Scotland at u-17, u-19 and u-21 level but has yet to make a senior appearance at any club.
Understand that Celtic are exploring a loan move for West Ham & Scotland U21 star Harrison Ashby.
One of a few clubs tracking the defender who operates primarily as a right-back but can also play as a wing-back too.
Good move for both parties if they can agree a deal.— Christopher Dodds (@chrissydodds_) August 30, 2021
With Josip Juranovic joining Celtic and Tony Ralston in the form of his life, right-back doesn’t appear to be a position that Ange Postecoglou is short of options or quality.
Playing for Celtic B in the Lowland League could be an option but it’s likely that West Ham have better development options that matches against Vale of Leithen, Edinburgh University and Caledonian Braves.
