Aurelio Buta is in the Royal Antwerp side facing Standard Liege today.

The right-back has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic but it seems that nothing is imminent in Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild.

As long ago as July 27 it was being reported that a deal had all but been agreed for the transfer but today’s match is Buta’s third appearance of the season for Antwerp.

With a year left on his contract Antwerp are expecting to sell Buta this month but they don’t seem to be wrapping him in cotton wool.

So far this season Tony Ralston has started every match at right-back. Last season he played just one match with Hatem Abd Elhamed, Jeremie Frimpong, Kris Ajer and Jonjoe Kenny were preferred by Neil Lennon.

With just over three weeks to go until the transfer window closes transfer activity at Celtic is expected to pick up with five first teamers- Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi, Carl Starfelt, Joe Hart and James McCarthy- already signed.
