Chris Sutton knows that there is a lot of work still to be done if Celtic are to edge AZ Alkmaar out of a place in the group phase of the Europa League.

The scoreline was ideal for the hoops- and probably unthinkable of three weeks ago when they crashed out of the Champions League to Midtjylland.

Tonight it stands at five wins on the bounce for the new look hoops with every chance that they’ll be playing Europa League football through till Christmas rather than dropping to the UEFA Conference.

Kyogo Furuhashi was the scorer of the opener with an instinctive finish in the 12th minute but the assist from Tom Rogic was equally as impressive.

There was a strong element of good fortune about the second goal but the build up was impressive leading to James Forrest netting with a heavy deflection from an Alkmaar defender.

Celtic still have a lot of work to do to go through next week but a two goal cushion and attacking threats from six players gives them every chance of a Europa League future.
