Steven Gerrard watched his side lose for the second time in a week as the storm clouds gather over Ibrox.

Last season’s freak results were put in some context today with Dundee United beating the Ibrox men 1-0 at Tannadice.

Gerrard recalled chunky front man Alfredo Morelos to the side that lost 2-1 in Malmo but the Colombian was miles off it as he snarled his way through 80 minutes before blessing himself as he was substituted.

United were without star man but in the 64th minute full-back Jamie Robson raced on to a brilliant assist from Steve Davis MBE to slot his shot past Jon McLaughlin.

Gerrard threw on Scott Wright, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe but despite some mysterious decisions from Don Robertson including five minutes of stoppage time there was no equaliser or penalty for the Ibrox men.

On Tuesday Gerrard has to lift his flops for the Champions League qualifier against Malmo knowing that an exit will cost the club £40m.
