Celtic appear to be in the driving seat to sign Georgios Giakoumakis from VVV Venlo- but it’s not yet a done deal.

That could almost be a summary of Celtic’s transfer activity this summer with the exception of Kyogo Furuhashi who was signed with barely an advance rumour.

Giannis Chorianopoulos has delivered the latest update with the Athens based reporter a reliable source of information since Celtic’s interest in signing Vasilis Barkas a year ago first emerged.

Bringing in at least one striker seems a necessity before the transfer window closes in 11 days time. With his indifferent form and clock running down on his contract it would be a high risk decision to expect Odsonne Edouard to offer adequate back-up or competition to Kyogo.

Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths seem to be for emergency use only this season making the need for a new striker more important than ever if Celtic are to maintain their impressive form over the last five days.
