Ewan Murray of The Guardian enjoyed a pleasant afternoon yesterday at Ibrox. There was no hassle or sectarian chants as he made his way to and from the match on the city underground.

Perhaps he has partial deafness as 50,000 fans on all four sides of the stadium got through their hate list before five minutes had passed in the match.

It is almost two years since Celtic played in front of fans at Ibrox, 24 months of anti-Catholic and anti-Irish bile was released but not according to the Hearts fan at the Grunaid.

When Scottish reports mention sectarian they are covering for racism, anti-Irish racism, something that The Guardian would normally strongly condemn. Not Murray however.

During the close season the Ibrox PR Department decided that it would cost £25,000 per publication for the traditional facilities of access to pre and post match media conferences plus a gantry seat to watch the match.

Only STV appear to have paid up but yesterday there were reporters from Radio Clyde and the Guardian inside Ibrox, other titles are likely to have been invited back.

Having followed the party line Murray will be hopeful of getting an invite back to enjoy the Europa League tie against Lyon two weeks on Thursday.
