Yan Couto is reported to prefer a loan move to Celtic ahead of options on the continent according to the Daily Record:

Mailsport understands the Brazilian has his heart set on the Hoops after sampling the Parkhead atmosphere at Thursday night’s Europa League win over Jablonec.

But it’s the Premier League champions who will make the final call on Couto’s immediate future, with Girona still keen on the 19-year-old right-back.

It’s understood the Spanish side have now offered up a loan fee to City in a desperate bid to fend off Celtic and get him back, after he impressed for them last term.

But after getting the Parkhead VIP treatment, Couto wants to play European football and sees Celtic Park as his next destination.

Couto spent last season on loan at Girona in the Spanish Second Division where he made 26 appearances.

City are likely to be looking for a different type of challenge for the Brazilian teenager with Celtic generally a good move for their prospects.

Daniel Arzani is the only move that never worked out, largely down to injury with Jason Denayer and Patrick Roberts both benefitting from the pressures and expectations of life at Celtic.

Earlier this year City picked up a healthy payment when Celtic sold Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen.

Tony Ralston isn’t going to give up the right-back position easily but with European football secured through until Christmas and Celtic light on defensive options Celtic could be beneficial for both Couto and City.
