Leigh Griffiths is reported to be keen on a move to Dundee.

Yesterday it emerged that the Dens Park side had contacted Celtic to discuss a loan move for the striker.

Griffiths was handed a 12-month contract by Celtic on July 1 but hasn’t played in any matches this season under Ange Postecoglou, making the bench just once as an unused substitute in the Premier Sports Cup win over Hearts.

Celtic do have a lack of striker options but it seems that Griffiths is unlikely to see much or any game time with the hoops under new management.

The Sun reports:

Dundee have launched a shock bid to land Leigh Griffiths on loan. And SunSport understands the Celtic striker IS keen on a return to Dens Park.

Despite being handed a new one-year deal by the Hoops in the summer, the 31-year-old has yet to play a single minute of competitive football under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

Revealing other interest in the striker, the report adds:

Club chiefs are open to Griffiths moving on, and it’s thought there is interest in him from south of the border and overseas.

Aberdeen and Hibs were also linked but the Dons opted instead for former favourite Marley Watkins on a two-year deal while Hibees looked elsewhere and landed James Scott on loan to bolster their options following the news that Christian Doidge will be out for the rest of the calendar year with an Achilles injury.

Celtic have been strongly linked with an interest in VVV Venlo striker Georgios Giakoumakis who was the top scorer in last season’s Eredivisie despite his club being relegated.

Griffiths has fought off a whole team of strikers ranging from Moussa Dembele, John Guidetti, Stefan Scepovic, Vakoun Bayo and Patryk Klimala to remain at Celtic but seven years after joining the hoops from Wolves it looks like he has run out of lives.
