Asked about likely transfer activity before the Europa League play-off against Alkmaar Ange Postecoglou spoke about contingency plans for players leaving.

Against the Dutch side Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard both played significant roles to take Celtic into the group stage of the Europa League.

Whether they will still be around for those matches is open to speculation with Everton, Rubin Kazan and Bordeaux all stepping up their interest in the French striker.

It looks like there could be a lot of business going on over the next four days with the Daily Record reporting on those contingency plans:

Benfica talent Felipe Jota is on the transfer radar of Celtic. Parkhead manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to add to his squad before Tuesday’s deadline and Record Sport understands the 22-year-old forward has emerged as a potential option.

Greek striker Georgios Giakoumakis is on the verge of sealing a £2.5million move from VVV Venlo, while the signing of Liam Scales was announced on Friday.

And we understand that another deal is in the pipeline before the window slams shut on Tuesday night, with Jota ready to come in on loan from Portuguese giants Benfica.

He spent last season on loan with Real Vallodolid in La Liga, scoring once in 17 appearances, and it is believed the Lisbon outfit are open to sending the winger out again to gain more experience.

Scales and Josip Juranovic have been added to the defence over the last week but it’s the situations regarding Edouard and Christie that will be critical to Celtic’s expected activity.

Edouard looks unlikely to be around this time next week but with his form under Postecoglou there is an expectation that Celtic can put together an offer more tempting to Christie than that from a mid-or lower EPL side.
