Celtic are believed to be in a stand-off with Spurs over Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The defender has a year left on his Spurs deal with Celtic apparently looking to sign the defender on loan rather than make a permanent move.

Ange Postecoglou has used Stephen Welsh and Carl Starfelt in each of the last seven matches with Nir Bitton the only other option currently available.

Football London reports:

One young player at the club who Tottenham are looking to help get a move is Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Newcastle, Bournemouth and Celtic have all previously shown interest in the 23-year-old centre-back, who has played five games for Spurs amid a large number of loan moves to clubs in the Championship over the years.

The USA international, who has a year left on his contract, injured himself late on in the defeat at Pacos but is now fit enough to make a move and Tottenham are trying to make something happen before the deadline.

Due to his contraction situation a loan move is of little use to Spurs unless it comes with an obligation to buy.

Carter-Vickers has been out on loan to six clubs since joining Spurs in 2015, last season he played 21 times in The Championship for Bournemouth.

If no deal can be struck for a central defender it looks like Postecoglou will have to wait until Chris Jullien recovers from knee surgery to have options in central defence. The Frenchman has still to resume full training after undergoing knee surgery in January.

As well as Bitton, Celtic also have Dane Murray and Bosun Lawal as options to call up from the B squad who have been playing in the Lowland League.
