Murdoch MacLennan, Chairman of the spineless SPFL board has written to member clubs looking for backing to apply their rules against the club from Ibrox.

Douglas Park has refused to allow the cinch logo to appear on his club’s shirt or on the backing boards for interviews. In June the SPFL announced a five year sponsorship deal with cinch that will see every club in the four divisions benefit.

When it comes to Kilmarnock fielding a suspended player in the Premier Sports Cup the SPFL didn’t hesitate to apply a 0-3 punishment but when it comes to their friends at Ibrox the SPFL and SFA are afraid to apply their own rules.

The Daily Record reports:

MacLennan has written to the other member clubs to express his disappointment over the stance adopted by Rangers.

He wrote: “Dear all. You will all be aware that earlier this summer, the SPFL signed a title sponsorship contract with cinch. This contract is, by value, the biggest single sponsorship deal in the 131-year history of the league.

“In the context of what is, by any measure, a challenging economic environment, our Chief Executive and his commercial team deserve huge credit for delivering this deal. It is therefore very disappointing that one of our clubs has not felt able to deliver inventory to cinch.

“Your board will be discussing this situation later this week. I will of course be in touch thereafter to give you a further update.”

All other clubs have added the cinch logo to their shirts. Cinch is an online firm for buying and selling used cars, a similar set up to Parks of Hamilton who have no formal sponsorship deals at Ibrox.
